Building Connections and Breaking Boundaries: The BCNA's First Senior’s LEGO Robotics Workshop

If you walked into Willowdale Manor this Saturday afternoon, you would have been greeted by an amazing sight: tables filled with LEGO pieces, laughter echoing through the room, and a group of seniors bringing their creative visions to life through lego robotics. That’s right—we held our first Senior’s LEGO Robotics Workshop, and it was a success!

Bringing LEGO to Life for a New Generation

Designed especially for older adults, this unique workshop showcased how age is no barrier to learning something new and embracing modern technology. Participants were introduced to basic robotics concepts, guided step-by-step in assembling their creations, and even programmed their robots to move and complete simple tasks.

A Full House with an Engaged Crowd

The workshop drew an impressive turnout, with over 25 attendees excited to dive into a hands-on session that blended creativity, problem-solving, and technology. Participants not only had the opportunity to create, but also to connect. Many shared ideas and collaborated on projects, transforming the session into a social experience as much as a technical one.

Smiles and laughter were abundant as participants proudly showed off their finished robots. It wasn’t just about the robots, though—many attendees commented on the joy of meeting new friends and rediscovering the magic of play in a group setting.
